Our Team Journal
If you want to know what's been going on with A.L.I.D.E. recently, this is the place to be! We will be posting updates on what we have been doing and how our robot is doing.
Humble Beginnings
After meeting together as a team for the first time, we have started to construct a robot based off of a design provided by FIRST. Since we are freshmen, we are not very familiar with the TETRIX parts, although we are becoming more familiar with them. Below is a picture of our robot so far. We currently have only built a simple frame with wheels.
PushBot Vertical
We have completed building a model robot provided by FIRST called the "PushBot v4a Vertical Reach Robot." We wrote out checklists to make sure we didn't miss any steps. The checklists are also a good item to include in our engineering notebook. The engineering notebook is essentially a record of everything we do, and is a requirement for the FIRST Tech Challenge. Below are pictures of the checklists and PushBot Vertical.
Forklift Fun
After finding many flaws in our PushBot Vertical design, we have almost completely redesigned our robot. We have replaced the arm and claw with a mechanism similar to a forklift. This new mechanism moves a gripper vertically using a pulley system. It makes use of a drawer shelf slide and some fishing line. Below is a picture of the new design.
